Preventative Measures

The Government of Qatar calls upon all members of society to take care and apply simple, preventive measures to protect against infection. This includes:

• • Washing your hands often or using hand sanitisers.
  • Keeping a distance of at least two metres from people who have symptoms of illness.
  • Avoiding physical contact, including shaking hands.
  • Using your sleeve to cover your nose and mouth when coughing and sneezing or using tissue paper and disposing of it appropriately.
  • Wearing a face mask in public.
  • Maintaining good ventilation indoors.

  
  Qatar Travel and Return Policy

  It is the responsibility of each traveller to ensure that they are aware of any changes to the State of Qatar’s travel and return policy before travelling to the country. All travellers must adhere to the State of Qatar’s COVID-19 measures to help limit the spread of the virus.

  Personal responsibility

  Is it mandatory to install the Ehteraz app? +

  It has been mandatory to install and activate the Ehteraz app when leaving the house for all citizens and residents in Qatar since 22 May 2021. Non-residents of Qatar must register via the pre-registration system for people entering the State of Qatar on www.ehteraz.gov.qa website.

  What should I do to prevent the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19)? +

  Apply the preventive measures recommended by the Ministry of Public Health to protect against infection and to limit the spread of COVID-19. To receive the latest updates, visit their website and social media accounts.

  Should I stay away from elderly people? +

  People can visit elderly relatives or friends, but exercise caution and follow proper hygiene principles.

  When should I start practising home quarantine? What does home quarantine mean? +

  People who test positive for COVID-19 can safely isolate at home for seven days. On day seven, these individuals should take another rapid antigen test. If they return a negative result, they will be able to leave isolation the following day. However, if the test result is positive, an additional three day isolation period is required. On day 11, they can leave isolation without further testing.

  Are Qatar’s medical facilities equipped to handle the increase in patients? +

  As a proactive measure, medical facilities are being prepared in different regions throughout the country to provide medical and nursing services for mild and moderate cases.

  A large number of hospital beds are in reserve in the existing dedicated COVID-19 facilities. The MOPH has dedicated three facilities to accommodate COVID-19 patients, including the Communicable Disease Centre, The Cuban Hospital, and Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital.

  Are there volunteer opportunities to assist with the Coronavirus response in Qatar? +

  The MOPH had previously been running a volunteer program to assist in Qatar’s COVID-19 response, to which over 35,000 people registered. This programme has now ended.

  Workplace safety

  In light of the outbreak of COVID-19, who is required to work remotely? +

  100% of public and private sector employees will be allowed in the office, as of January 8th. Vulnerable and at-risk employees should be allowed to work remotely at the discretion of their employer.

  Are there COVID-19 awareness programmes taking place for workers and in workers’ housing? +

  Yes, a specialised task force has been formed to conduct inspections of workplaces and educate workers on preventive measures against COVID-19. The Ministry of Social Development & Family distributed multilingual awareness films in addition to health bags that include sterilisers, medical masks and detailed instructions.

  What precautionary measures can be taken to protect the workplace from the spread of COVID-19? +

  Employers have an important role to play in protecting workers from COVID-19 and keeping them healthy and safe. Actions that employers can take include:

  • Adapting workplaces to ensure social distances can be maintained
  • Raising awareness of the recommended measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by providing educational materials that are readily available in the languages spoken by employees
  • Cleaning and sterilising workplaces daily
  • Distributing masks, hand sanitisers, tissues and other PPE
  • Advising employees on proper handwashing
  • Training staff on how to apply preventive measures at work and at home to decrease their susceptibility to the virus
  • Ensuring employees are tested, where appropriate
  Will those without a health card receive treatment? +

  A health card is not required in order to be tested or receive treatment. All guest workers will receive treatment for free.
